Trump's Family Member Seeks Expert Advice from Golf Legend Woods Prior to LPGA Debut
The rising star has considerable online following
Kai Trump can count on numerous high-profile backers when she starts her LPGA debut this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is the granddaughter of a former US president, received a special exemption to play at Florida's Annika event in Florida.
Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, operates multiple international courses and regularly matches against Kai.
"He's pretty good. I can't say much but we play some close matches," she stated.
She mentioned that her grandfather, who won't be present, counseled her: "Simply avoid anxiety."
"He essentially suggested to go out there and relax," she added.
"To me, he's just an ordinary family member. He can't make it for the tournament. He's occupied with presidential duties, so he's rather occupied."
Being non-professional, the golfer has participated in a mere three competitions this year and maintains the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association listings.
Yet she's able to seek guidance from Tiger Woods, in a relationship with Kai's mother.
"He stands as the top athlete in the world," the young golfer said.
"And he's an even better human being. He advised me to play, have fun, following whatever happens."
She'll challenge several top competitors in women's golf at the Annika, including second-ranked the champion, England's Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
The LPGA stated that her participation helps introduce golf to different demographics, specifically reaching youth audiences.
The young star maintains a massive following and has started her own clothing and lifestyle company.
Her first tee time at 5:30 PM GMT.
